This week at level 3 and first 2 days of level 2 we will continue to book phone and virtual consults and only see patients on site if a doctor considers this appropriate and necessary. We will keep working on appropriate process to safely extend our onsite consulting and avoiding risk of waiting room overcrowding etc and will post updates on how this will be managed over the weekend. We will continue to offer phone and video consultations at level 2 , The College of GPs has recommended that approximately 50% of consultations remain virtual at level 2.

The below instructions which have worked well through level 4 and level 3 will continue to be our basic approach but will be updated later this week/ weekend when we work through appropriate processes and confirm hours going forward (see separate instructions regards flu vaccinations).

Phones answered 9.15 – 4.15 from 26 March. We are now offering virtual (online) and phone consultations – these can be booked via the portal or via phone, this will help us can continue to care for and support our patients. We will continue to update the website accordingly.

If you are unwell with any symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat or runny nose, it is vital you DO NOT come straight into the surgery or book a standard appointment. You should stay home and phone reception who will then get a doctor or a nurse to call you and discuss what we can do to help.

Virtual consultations

We are starting to offer virtual (online) consultations in place of face-to-face consultations, especially when a physical examination is not necessary. Although a different form of consultation we are confident this will provide a high standard of care as well as being very convenient and safe, as coronavirus becomes more established in our community.

The platform is “doxy.me” – a safe, secure and simple program that can be used on any device with a camera (smartphone, tablet or PC). Please ask reception for a virtual consultation and they will advise how to do this OR see this website for further information.

Virtual consultations will be for the same duration as would a standard consultation and will be charged at the same rate. Sometimes we may also require you to attend the surgery for a physical examination and this will be discussed with you at the time.

Our staff are all enormously busy presently and you will appreciate there are significant demands on our services. We will need to temporarily cut back on some non-essential services such as well-person checks in the interim and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Working together we will all get through the uncertain times ahead.
